S’Amarador

Information

S'Amarador is a stunning beach located within a natural park, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and enjoying nature. Here are some highlights:

  • Beautiful surroundings: Surrounded by greenery, the beach offers picturesque views and a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for walking and exploration.
  • Clear water: Many visitors have praised the crystal clear turquoise water, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
  • Facilities: The beach features a bar serving drinks and snacks, along with nearby paid parking options that cost about €6 per day.
  • Accessibility: Although it requires a short walk from the parking lot, the path is well maintained and suitable for families.

However, some visitors mentioned downsides:

  • Crowding: The beach can get quite crowded during peak season, which may hinder the experience for those seeking solitude.
  • Cleanliness issues: Complaints about litter and seaweed presence have been noted, suggesting that the beach could be better maintained.
  • Parking concerns: Some users found the parking fees a bit high and highlighted challenges with GPS navigation to the beach.

Despite these drawbacks, S'Amarador remains one of the favored beaches in Mallorca, highly recommended for its natural beauty.

Fantastic experience: We went there just now at the beginning of April, and because of previous reviews we feared the water may have a lot of algae, but to our surprise it was actually pretty decent! Yes, there was a bit of algae but not enough to bother us, there were parts that you could avoid the algae and swim comfortably, the water was super clean and crystal clear! (The algae was mostly on the left side of the beach as you can see on my photos and video) but to the right side it was clear and lovely! There’s also another small beach in front of this, you can see it in the distance (you can walk to it through a very nice path that’s on the left side, maybe 5-10min more and you’re there!) the walk from the parking lot to the beach area is a good 5min walk (park all the way to the end, the access is through the end of the parking lot), easy access, and wheelchair accessible. ALSO - There were no jellyfish here! So you can swim worry-free. (We had just been in a beach south from this and it was full of jellyfish, so don’t worry about that here!) and finally we were very lucky that this beach was almost empty when we arrived! We have seen other photos of this beach being very full, but we arrived around 3:30pm and stayed until 6pm on a Tuesday, and it was pretty empty! overall we had a great experience. (There’s no chairs to rent, no shadow and no bathroom or establishments nearby so, take your chairs, umbrella, food and beverages because there’s nothing here).

Fantastic experience: Another one of the beautiful coves with a wonderful beach. From the parking lot, there is a direct path and a slightly more scenic route (through a nature reserve) to the beach. We clearly recommend taking the longer path, as the view here directly builds the anticipation for the beach and the sea.

Fantastic experience: Nice beach, about 400m walk from the parking. Parking is paid. There is a little bar with some food, drinks and ice cream.

Positive experience: 7 years ago it was great, now you can't jump from the cliffs because 2/3 of the bay isclosed for boats, outrageous! And €6 for parking, ridiculous, unfortunately not good anymore! There are nicer places!

Fantastic experience: Large and welcoming beach, there is a bar with prices in line with the rest of the facilities. To access, you need to leave your car in a parking lot not far away at a cost of €6 per day and walk for about 10 minutes (but it is all very doable). Quiet and well-maintained environment. It is well worth it.

Fantastic experience: A wonderfully beautiful beach. The water slopes gently, so children can play very well at the beginning of the beach. Parking costs €6 and is a few hundred meters away from the beach. However, it takes about 4-5 minutes to get there. The paths are paved. It gets tricky with a stroller as you have to go down some stairs. Behind the beach is a nature park, where you can hike very nicely. On the left side, there is a small path to Cala Mondrago, about 3-4 minutes away. It is a bit livelier there. At Cala S'amarador there are no restrooms, only a bar with drinks.

Negative experience: Paid parking, dogs are not allowed, but hundreds of boats and jet skis are... The water is green, and near the shore, there is something stagnant that is not clear what it is but feels disgusting and has a fluorescent-like appearance, it smells terrible. The lifeguard says it could be from the boats. What a shame.

Fantastic experience: At Cala S’Amarador in Mallorca, the experience is wonderfully peaceful. The beach is surrounded by untouched nature, with dense pine trees and rocky cliffs enclosing the bay, creating a cozy, protected cove. The view is spectacular, with crystal-clear turquoise water that contrasts beautifully against the fine white sand. It’s a perfect spot for a calm beach day, where you can enjoy swimming or simply relax while taking in the tranquil scenery of this hidden gem on Mallorca’s coast.

Positive experience: Nice sandy beach with crystal clear water. Paid parking 6 euros a day and easily accessible to the beach. Much prefer this than Cala Mondrago next door - Mondrago is smaller and have a rotten smell on the day we visited, coming from the small inland pond behind it. We arrived at 9:30am and plenty of space to find a good spot to dock our umbrella for the day.

Negative experience: A paradise ruined by overcrowding - like almost all of Mallorca -. Full of people - of riff-raff -. Full of garbage; both on the sand and in the sea. Murky water. Be careful because they steal backpacks. There are always the kids with the speaker and the guy with the cart shouting to sell drinks. I also saw a fight. Full of boats at an absurd level.... etc. etc. etc. The truth is it's outrageous. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The hotel pool with the kids' pee is a thousand times more hygienic.... and I could go on.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful white sand beach and very family-friendly. The parking costs €6/car for the whole day. From the parking lot, a walk of about 300m downhill leads to the beach. Coincidentally, the day I visited, there was no wind and the water was very clear, no seaweed at all. You can see many fish and walking along a small pier connects you to Cala Mondragó (smaller but accessible by bus). Both coves have small but functional beach bars, lifeguards, and sun loungers. If I had to point out a downside, I would say that there are not enough trash bins; we took our trash back to where we had parked, but we saw piles of abandoned garbage on the sand or on the path, which is really a shame and shows how we really are... let's take care of the environment, please.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful beach! Clear water and soft sand. There is a parking, there are also toilets and there is a beach bar. There are not many sun chairs and umbrellas to rent. They offer sun umbrellas to buy for EUR 20 though. When we were there, it was very crowded. Anyway, definitely worth visiting it!

Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches in Mallorca if you are after sand. Great for families since water is shallow and doesn’t get deep for a long way. Not too crowded when we were there (mid-July) as there’s enough space vs other beaches. Water and beach were clean. There’s a little beach bar for food and drinks. Lovely spot!

Fantastic experience: For me, one of the most beautiful beaches here. I love walking through the forest along the sea to the beach. Unfortunately, you have to pay 6 euros for the parking lot. At the beach itself, there is a beach bar. Mobile toilets (Dixi toilets) are available. It would be nicer, especially for women, to have a toilet trailer, like some other beaches have.

Positive experience: A beautiful beach set in wonderful surroundings. Unfortunately these days it can be rather overcrowded. At one time it was very much a 'clothes optional' location with a majority of women at least topless and a proportion of both male and female nudists. Now, however, it has changed in character, becoming very touristy and very much family/children orientated.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful little beach. There weren't too many people. The water is beautiful and quite clean and clear. You can go snorkeling there. There's a monitored parking lot not far away, which is quite convenient.

Fantastic experience: Incredible!! You have to pay for parking to access (6€) but once there, Mondragó park is totally worth it! Fine sand and turquoise waters that are shallow for swimming, snorkeling or diving. There is a kiosk that offers drinks, food, and there are restrooms, but there are no showers.

Positive experience: This place is excellent. It gets very busy during the day. But early (before 10) you can get a space anywhere, even along the slightly shady cliff. We parked at mondrago car park which is about 400m up hill from the mondrago beach and costs €5 per day but goes to a charity for mental health. Great snorkeling, can jump off rocks into the sea, small bar on each beach selling drinks and ice creams.

Andrea Bossner 6 years ago

Positive experience: A nice and clean beach set in stunning surroundings. There's a parking fee (5€ for a car) which goes to a non-profit organisation working with mental illness. The water gets deep fairly quickly and you can see some beautiful fish when snorkeling along the cliffs. A small bar serves ice cream, soft drinks, beer, wine and a small assortment of alcoholic drinks at quite a steep price compared to other beach bars. No food is served so make sure to bring your own. Two porter-potties that aren't too inviting. Come for the water and the view!

Fantastic experience: It’s a very nice beach. Crystal clear. Fun for adults and kids. But finding it was trouble. The GPS led us totally wrong. We found a tip in the comments on Google. Instead of searching for the beach navigation, use the local parking lot as a goal. Then it will lead you right.

Positive experience: The bay is very beautiful; it is a local beach where the Spaniards themselves relax, but the sand is not cleaned here, and therefore I give this beach 3 out of 5.

Positive experience: Very beautiful beach. You arrive through a short walk among the trees after parking in the paid parking (€6). It is located in the natural park of Mondragò, very picturesque. Be careful as the navigator takes you on the wrong road, but at a certain point there are signs indicating the correct road. Unfortunately overcrowded. If you like the rocks, take a short walk to the other beach (Mondragò) and you will find many quieter spots. It's a shame about the boats that come very close to the coast.

Positive experience: Very beautiful cove but quite crowded. It can be reached in a few minutes from a paid parking lot that you get to via the arrows you find along the road since Map has incorrect directions.

Fantastic experience: Turquoise blue beach, not too cold, one of the best. With a natural park with many trails to take spectacular photos. The only downside is that parking costs €6.

Fantastic experience: Large sandy beach surrounded by nature, it's superb. The parking is paid and costs 6 euros if your GPS address is 'cala Mondrago' or 'Parc Naturel Mondrago.' You can avoid parking by going directly to S'Amarador. The water is of rare clarity and the sand very white. The site is magnificent. In summer, the time slot from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. is the most pleasant.

Positive experience: Actually a beautiful hidden cove in a nature reserve. But unfortunately totally overcrowded and too many boats. Furthermore, I found the parking fee of €6.00 too high.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful little beach. There weren't too many people. The water is beautiful and quite clean and clear. You can go snorkeling there. There's a monitored parking lot not far away, which is quite convenient.

Fantastic experience: Another beach from the top 10 of Palma de Mallorca with access from Cala Mandragó via a walkway by the water and with ideal spots for that social media photo. Small beach area but with minimal beach services. Enjoy and eat the delicious beach fruit to accompany the crystal blue water of this cove. The water is warm; the only challenge is getting out.

Fantastic experience: Great sand beach located in a park with easy parking. Parking is 6€ for a car and a short walk to a beautiful beach in a cove. Chairs can be rented for 12€ and there is a little beach shack serving food and drink.

Fantastic experience: This beach is picturesquely located in a nature reserve. There is a large parking lot, which costs 6€/per day. The walk to the beach is like a stroll into paradise. The beach itself is larger than many small coves, which provides enough space despite the many people. Shaded areas are rare. The water was a bit rough on our visiting day, but still beautiful and kid-friendly. The footpath over the cliffs to Cala Mondragó cove offers spectacular photo opportunities. Absolutely recommended!

Fantastic experience: Splendid beach with very fine sand. There is a shaded parking lot for €6 per day for a car, which is connected to the beach with a small walk of a maximum of 10 minutes accessible with a stroller. Ideal for families with children. There is a beach bar with sun loungers available for rent. This beach is part of a group of three coves that you can visit via a developed walking trail; it takes about 30 minutes to connect the three coves.

Fantastic experience: Very beautiful beach cove with clear water and bright sand. Beware, there is no shade from trees, either rent an umbrella or bring one. Entering the forest area is prohibited for nature conservation reasons. Beach bar available. Parking is farther away. Another beach can be reached via a footpath.

Fantastic experience: Beach with parking (€6 for the car) and then you have to walk about 10 minutes. There's a beach bar, a guy selling coconut, pineapple, watermelon, etc. You can walk to the next one which is Mondragó. It's very beautiful, you have to take into account the wind because with fine sand it becomes more uncomfortable when it's blowing at you.

Fantastic experience: A dreamlike and also wide sandy beach located in a nature reserve. It can be reached on foot from the large parking lot in just a few minutes. A beautiful hike along the cliffs and through a wooded area is available. It's also not a problem for children. At the time of my visit, there were relatively many people at the beach. The visit is definitely worth it.

Positive experience: Easily accessible from Mondrago via a pretty path through the rocks. Natural site without construction, which is very pleasant. The sand is white but there are a lot of algae on a third of the beach. The sea is turquoise but murky, no need to bring out the mask. It quickly gets crowded. We prefer to walk along beautiful paths by the rocks.

Fantastic experience: One of the best beaches for families with children in Mallorca. Large parking lot (about 600 meters of paved path to the beach or about 1 km of picturesque hiking trails through the pine forest with a beautiful view from the cliffs). Shallow clean water. Small waves in the cove, even when there are strong waves in the sea outside. Very soft sand. A kiosk with snacks and ice cream. Beautiful.

Fantastic experience: The water was clean. The wind was light, and in the evening, some nice big waves started coming in. There is a bar, and there are a few dozen beach chairs. The dry toilet was clean and there was paper. Parking cost 6 euros. When driving by GPS - watch for signs at intersections that warn GPS may show incorrectly.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful and wide bay in the Mondragó nature reserve with clean, turquoise blue water. If you arrive early, it is not very crowded. Parking costs 6 euros for a day. Also nice for hiking in the nature reserve or for a walk to the next bay along a rocky path right by the water.

Fantastic experience: A very nice beach. There are a few algae in the water, but that doesn't bother me. Parking in the fairly large parking lot costs €6. It takes a few minutes to walk from the parking lot to the beach. Like almost all beaches, there is also a kiosk here. The beach is very clean, except for the mentioned algae. The bay is overall very nice and not overdeveloped. A visit is worth it.
